Character Concepts - Reinhardt S.

So the original plan I had in mind was to do a re-design of Reinhardt’s character, but I figured that it would be too outlandish and not true to the story. Got my silliness out with a retro design in the upper right corner. That was pretty fun to work on, even if it is garbage; lol.

Tweaked his costume just a tad to have more color in it; the guy was literally all brown and orange in the first game, barring his alternate Simon costume. There isn’t much else to his costume from the waist down; a few minor tweaks and adjustments, but nothing too drastic. Not to toot my own horn or sound like an ass, but I sort of dig my version of his costume. Too bad I can’t find a way to implement it into the game to see what it would really look like.

Also added in a scar underneath his left eye as sort of an homage to Alex Pascenko’s version of Reinhardt (go look at it if you haven’t, it’s quite good). Not only that, but it would make sense for him to have some sort of physical scarring; what with being a Vampire Hunter and all.

On a final note for the time being, dude has a pretty wicked haircut. Though to me it seemed the developers abandoned the “flat-top” look he had in the original design for a more traditional gelled-back style. Decided to go with a mix of both, really. Looks pretty similar to his appearances in both games, so it’s good enough for me.
